SAMARITAN’S PURSE AFGHAN RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM
Samaritan’s Purse (SP) relief program is designated specifically for the Church & is managed through SP to support the overwhelming load on our national & local resettlement agencies. This is such an amazing opportunity for the Church to be the Church in real tangible ways.
This program aims to locate interested accepting churches that are open to sharing this unique opportunity amongst their congregation and to work with interested individuals and/or families that want to walk alongside a refugee individual or refugee family. The hosting individual or family is asked to commit to 3 to 6 months with their Afghan refugee. Here are the areas that the receiving church will focus on alongside the host individual/family that is welcoming the refugee(s):
Assistance in securing or teaching local transportation skills (learning the bus line)
Assistance in getting education aligned for their specific needs
Assistance in finding and securing a job
Assistance in lining up mental health resources, if needed
Assistance in making appropriate connections
Assistance in adapting to a new way of life and set of surroundings
The Government will be giving a one time financial support amount of $2,225.00 per refugee (if you accepted a family of 4 that would equal a one time financial support amount of $9,100.00)
Assistance in securing long term or permanent housing

We know this unique opportunity can bring a lot of unfamiliarity around expectations and just all around unchartered territory so Samaritan’s Purse decided to put together an FAQ for the program to assist you in determining if this is something for you.
